Helfried Fister received his musical education at the Carinthian Conservatory of Music under Prof. Gustav Mayer and then at the State University of Music in Cologne under Prof. Igor Ozim including chamber music studies under Prof. Günther Kehr.
His teaching work: Assistant to Prof. Ozim at the University of Music in Cologne.
Since 1989 head of a violin class at the Carinthian Conservatory of Music and since 1999 also at the Johann-Joseph-Fux-Conservatorium of Music in Graz. 1997-1999 visiting professor at the University of Music in Graz.
Alongside his extensive teaching activities Helfried Fister performs in concerts as soloist and chamber musician, takes courses in violin and chamber music and is a judge at competitions in many countries of the world.
He has made recordings for CDs, radio and television in Australia, Mexico, Slovenia and Austria.
